Book Review: The Money Saving Mom's Budget

I had the privileged of reading a pre-released copy of Crystal Paine's new book, The Money Saving Mom's Budget. This amazing book will be released on Jan. 12th for purchase or you can pre-order it here. I am already thinking of giving a few as gifts to friends and family!

I love the way Crystal writes...she engages you right from the beginning until the very end. It always seems very hard to get your life in order, debt paid off and have savings in the bank. But you will learn that it is not as hard as you may think. You will learn how to get creative. And yes there will be work involved but Crystal shares a step by step approach to getting on the right track and staying there!

There are 9 chapters in the book that will take you through "Money Saving Mom's 7 Rules for Financial Success."

Rule #1: Set big goals and break them down into bite-sized pieces

Rule #2: Streamline your life and cut the clutter.

Rule #3: Set up a realistic, workable budget.

Rule #4: Take the cash-only challenge.

Rule #5: Use coupons.

Rule #6: Never pay retail.

Rule #7: Choose contentment.

When reading each chapter you will hear how Crystal and her husband stayed out of debt, payed for law school and bought their first home with CASH! While this may seem out of reach for you, Crystal's seven rules can get you there! Your goals will be different! She even shares about other reader's successes and how they got there!

I was reminded of lessons that I have learned over the past couple years and how I have succeeded by following them. I also learned new ideas on how to save money and pay off debt. I am looking forward to going through the seven rules in my family's life because our season of life will be changing when Baby Girl #2 comes along. I am going to go through the book again and follow each step over the next year.

I, of course can skip rules 5 and 6 since that is what I am all about. But I want to sit down with Nathan and write down our goals and how we can break them down in a way that will make them easier to accomplish. I would like to get rid of more clutter in our house - we need to make room for another person! We have a budget but I know it can be re-worked. I am going to try out Crystal's three month approach to a realistic, workable budget...as well as taking the cash challenge.

And finally, becoming content...choosing to be content.

I can't wait for you to read this book! All profits will be going to Compassion International so you will be helping out an amazing ministry and learning the 7 rules to financial success! Be on the lookout for a giveaway once the book is released!

Let me know when you read this book! I would love to hear your thoughts and how the concepts have influenced you!
