Clutter Busting Challenge - Day 12

Every day in the month of May, you are challenged to get rid of 7 things. You can sell, donate, throw away or recycle them. Your choice. Then post about what you got rid of at MoneySavingMom.com

I have to be honest...I totally forgot about the challenge today until 9:00 pm. The girls and I had a busy day...playing with friends and visiting Grandmommy. Oh and we picked up the girls' birthday presents for Grandmommy. I had to call Nathan in for that. lol

Anyways, I was able to get rid of 7 more things. More will come tomorrow morning but Friday and Saturday, I will be out of town!

Today's things I got rid of:

- 1 Halloween Bag
- 8 pieces of girls clothes 6/9 months.

I will be going through all of the girls' clothes next week to see what I could sell or give away. I have a friend who will be looking through what we have in a couple months for her first child! So excited.

How did you do?

Grocery Shopping Update

With two weeks left, I am going to have to get creative with the last bit of our grocery money. I am pretty sure I can finish out the month without spending over $50 but it may be close.

One thing I did not take into account was the tax here. I do not like the food taxes here - 9.25% and 7.5% --

{I just had to take a break for writing this post. I was adding up all of the money I have spent on groceries and then I got a phone call - well Hailey got a phone call from her best friend Eden. :D}

I realized tonight that I needed to use up $6 in ExtraCare Bucks from CVS by tomorrow so the girls and I headed over to the store to pick up some milk. But before I left - I checked to see what coupons I had that I could use at the Dollar Tree.

Oh and yesterday, I made a quick trip to Aldi for fresh fruit and sandwich bags.

Total Spent: $7.67

Total Spent: $0.57

Aldi was a great shopping trip because I made $6.46 for my shopping job. I picked up some groceries for my friend. This was great! I did not add that to my $50 budget though. That money will go into our other accounts. :)

The CVS trip cost $2.07 after extracare bucks and coupons but Hailey was buying the M&Ms for her special treat. (My grandparents collect change for her in the truck stops when they are out on a run. They look in the parking lot for any spare change. This bag had a little over $6 in it.)

I love that I can make money for grocery shopping while helping someone out when their life is too crazy. And I enjoy grocery shopping.

I calculated how much money I have spent this month so far. Here are the totals:

Total Spent For This Month: $28.35

Total Left To Spend: $21.65

{Last month, I forgot to subtract the money I was spending toward the items I was giving to another family.}

Friday, I will be sharing a Veggie Lover Box with a friend plus getting Farm Fresh Eggs. This will cost me $13.00 but these veggies/fruits should last us the next two weeks.

I will then have $8.65 for the rest of the month of May!!! This is where it is going to get creative! Hopefully there will be good moneymakers at Walmart that I can use! Or if anyone gives us free food. haha

I am glad that this challenge happened this month - I am pretty much finished with my babysitting job so I will be looking for another one. This has taken about $300 from our month income budget but the Lord knew that this would happen and I am truly happy for my friend who gets to stay home with her kiddos now. :D It will just be an adjustment.

How is your grocery budget looking for the month? Are you staying on track?

Clutter Busting Challenge - Day #11

It was time to tackle the play room. Hailey and Harper will be having birthday parties soon so I wanted to make room for any new toys they might get. I did ask for some people to buy them their favorite snacks instead of toys - items they will actually use - idea taken from my friend.

At first, Hailey did not want to get rid of her toys but I reminded her why we were selling them. I told her that the money we made from our yard sale would go towards her birthday and her dad's. She said okay and let me get rid of a good amount.

I was proud of her. She did not even fuss one time about it and that is amazing for a almost 3 year old.

There are too many items for me to do a break down but I am sure there is over 50 items right here. Toys, sleeping wedge, baby seat, knobs from the kitchen, books and little odds and ends.

Maternity clothes, play mat and hallway rug - it kept moving off to the side of the hallway so I decided we did not need it anymore.

I am so happy with how well we are doing with getting rid of some of our possessions. I feel like we are going towards being minimalists but not all the way there. lol

I love our home and I want to be able to enjoy it without the clutter.

How are you doing this week? I would love to hear!

Meals This Week - 5/13

For the past two nights, Nathan and I have been taking advantage of the hour or so that we have at night to spend time with each other. One night we stayed up to watch a couple shows and the other just talked in bed. Love these times we have.

This also meant that I had to give up something...that something was this blog post (and the next one. lo) But I am available now. Harper is sitting at my feet --crying because she just hit her head.

One second...

Thanks! She is now in my lap --- so happy.

This week's menu will be simple. The girls and I will be out of town for three days to visit Nathan's sister and family. She just had her little one so I am going to help her out. :D So excited!

Monday: Red Beans and Rice with Deer Sausage & Chicken
Tuesday: Leftovers
Wednesday: Barbecued Beef Sandwiches served on Homemade Hamburger Buns
Thursday: Leftovers - leaving sometime in the afternoon
Friday: Frozen Pizza - easy for Nathan
Saturday: leftovers - coming home after dinner
Sunday: Homemade Goulash - we have had this before...DELICIOUS! I will sub whatever noodles we have...oh and made with ground deer meat. yummy!

I haven't had to be too creative yet with meals. We still have a good amount of food in the cupboards and freezer.

Deer meat, chicken, beef steaks, vegan burgers, frozen veggies (peas, carrots, corn, broccoli, tomatoes) and fruit (grapes, bananas), dried ingredients (flour, sugar, beans, lentils, ect.), canned goods and pasta.

Plus we have breakfast foods in the pantry/closet.

What will you be having this week? Trying anything new?
