We Welcome Harper Avery Rankin Into The World!

Good morning everyone! Last night at 6:49 pm, we welcomed our little bundle of joy into the world. Harper Avery Morgan weighs 7 lb 2 oz and is 20.5 inches in length! She is very mellow (like her daddy) and oh so beautiful.

Here are some pictures we took of her last night and this morning. She had her hospital photos done today so I got in on the action. :D She is so precious!

Hailey meeting Harper - she gave her a kiss.

Daddy covered her up!

Beautiful outfit for her photo op!

I am doing well. I went in on Tuesday night for an induction - they were going to send me home because I was not dilated and it was very painful for the doctor to check me. He said he could give me an epidural and then get to my cervix, then break my water. So I opted for the epidural.

I have to be honest, I was not going to get one. My last one with Hailey was terrible - I ended up with a spinal leak but this time around everything went smooth. It was great. After awhile, they said I was 4-5 cm dilated so it would be a couple hours until I delivered.

This did not happen! haha within 45 minutes - it was time. Harper's heartbeat did go down so they had to rush and do a bunch of stuff - i put on an oxygen mask and they had me flip to my stomach (on my hands and knees) to help control her heart rate. It was pretty intense and a nurse had to hold me up because I had no feeling in my legs.

The epidural wore off a little bit when I started pushing and the mixture of medications I was on caused me to shake. This is not helpful when trying to push your child out. I even said that I just couldn't push her but I sucked up the pain and did it. They had to help me with forceps but it was worth it. I was overcome with emotion when they laid her on my chest. It was amazing.

Thank you everyone for your prayers. I really appreciate them. Tomorrow is going home day - the doctor said we could stay to make sure everything goes smoothly and so we can get some sleep before we head home. He told us to take advantage of the nursery - to get much needed rest.

That is all for now. Thanks for reading! Can't wait to get more pictures up!

  2. She is so precious. I at first thought that Harper was a boy because of the name =). So glad she is here and healthy!
